Measuring the tensile strength of the rubbers is the best testing technique which is used to measure its reliability and strength and also to measure the actual working life of the products.
Purpose of Measuring Tensile Strength
The tensile testing machine is highly recommended to evaluate the tension strength of the products. The testing instrument works on the principle of CRT i.e. Constant rate of Traverse. The testing machine is provided with the operating panel with digital control along with two jaws on which the sample can be clamped. The jaws of the device are moved in opposite direction with the help of a motor that comprises of a lead screw arrangement and a gear box. The machine is also provided with a load sensor with the load cell that helps to sense the accurate point at which the sample breaks. To operate the machine, there is a standard working procedure that must be followed to operate the testing machine efficiently.
Standard Working Procedure of Tensile Testing Machine
To operate the lab testing instrument efficiently, first of all, take a piece of rubber specimen which you want to test. Now cut the sample in a standard shape says, in a form of a dumbbell. Now clamp the specimen onto the machine by fixing the two ends of the sample on the upper jaw and lower jaw. The upper clamp of the device is kept fixed whereas the lower clamp is moved with a constant speed. This test procedure creates tension on the sample which leads to sample failure or fracture. This reading is then recorded by the user to measure the maximum tensile strength of the product. The testing machine provides accurate and reliable test results that are required to produce only best quality of products.
