Presto’s bursting strength tester is a very popular instrument for estimating the burst strength of the different materials like cloth, paper, foil, film, leather and so on. To estimate the behaviour of the material in the real conditions is a very intricate task. If the stability of the material is not checked prior to use it in production, uncertain behaviour may lead to product failure. The machine has pneumatic clamping system. This means that there is minimum human interference which means that chances of error or uneven sample clamping is minimum. The pneumatic pressure is predefined.
To perform the test, the pressure is applied on the sample via rubber diaphragm. Direct pressure is never exerted as it may lead to uneven pressure distribution on the sample. The hydraulic pressure is applied through glycerine as a medium. The machine will keep on applying the pressure until the sample ruptures. Or creep test can also be performed, in which sample is made to hold the pressure for certain period of time. This would help in estimating the pressure bearing capacity of the sample. The pressure applied to burst the sample will be sensed by the transducer to analyse the force applied to burst the sample. The machine is equipped with rocked switch and feather touch switches to make the operation of the machine smooth and hassle free.
