The main unit of bursting strength tester-digital consists of various essential components like an operating wheel, lead screw, upper clamp, specimen placement area, lower clamp, load indicator, push-button for burst, and main switch. The load indicator control panel will show you the burst value of products, and provide you with buttons like Tare, reset, limit, etc. It comes with a maximum range of bursting (i.e. 40 kg/cm2). To operate this testing instrument, we have mentioned several steps below:

  • When you start with the machine operating process, then you need to plug the machine into 3 pin-5 amp, power supply socket.
  • Once the machine gets started, then the load indicator will show some values due to previous test values. But you can reset these values by pressing the TARE button and then the RESET button. When you press these buttons, then the load value will show zero reading.
  • After that, you can prepare the specimen like a cardboard box, corrugated fiber sheet, or any other similar material. The dimensions of the cardboard specimen should be 100 x 100mm. A test specimen below these dimensions will not give accurate results. While preparing the specimen, make sure that there are no folds in the specimen.
  • To place the sample accurately, you need to move the upper clamp of the specimen upwards by rotating the operating wheel in the anti-clockwise direction. Place the test specimen so that it completely covers the Lower clamp.
  • Now rotate the operating wheel in a clockwise direction to bring the upper clamp down to hold the test specimen. Tighten the operating wheel to make sure that the test specimen is firmly held and there will be no slippage.
  • Once you perform all the steps above, then you can commence the test. ‘

If the clamped sample is loose, it will tend to slip after the application of pressure. If it is too tight, more than required pressure needs to be applied. Thus, you should use nominal pressure to easily apply the pressure. The machine is very simple to operate and it comes with a calibration certificate as well.
