Indian Standard for Plastics – A Method of Testing mechanical properties and to determine flexural properties.
This International Standard specifies a method for determining the flexural properties of plastics under definite conditions. A standardized sample is used, but various factors are incorporated in - alternative sample sizes for use wherever necessary. The method is highly recommended to examine the flexural behavior of the test samples and to determine the flexural modulus, flexural strength and other features of the flexural stress relationship under the defined conditions. It is applicable to a generously supported beam loaded at Midspan. The method is best used with following products: Thermoplastics molding, extrusion materials, Thermosetting molding materials, Fiber-reinforced thermoset and thermoplastics composites, Thermotropic liquid-crystal polymers.
