Coefficient of friction tester is used to assess the anti-slipping properties of the plastic films, sheets, pipes and papers. When two surfaces rub against each other, there is some friction in-between. More the friction is, lesser is the slippage. The machine gives a measurement of kinetic and static friction of the material when it is tested by sliding over other surface in predefined conditions. This helps in estimating the stacking properties of the materials.

Some products need to have high stacking properties, so that they can be stored and transported efficiently. This helps in reducing the mishaps due to slippage during transportation and stacking. It is a very simple to use machine. A sample is placed over the load and made to drag over the surface. Sometimes due to additives, the anti-slip properties in the materials gets generated by default. The frictional properties depend on the molecular structure of the surface and its evenness. If there is uneven surface, the friction tends to increase. This is a very sensitive test and frictional properties depend on the consistency of the rate of the motion.
